Ontario Hall

On Campus

Ontario Hall Bed and Breakfast

The primary site of accommodation for STLHE 2016 is Western University's beautiful new residence building, Ontario Hall, the location of Western's Bed & Breakfast (virtual tour). This facility, opened in 2013, is conveniently located on campus, and includes complimentary parking, breakfast, and high-speed internet access. Rooms at Ontario Hall are furnished, semi-private suites, featuring two lockable bedrooms (each with a single bed), one washroom and a large storage closet. Barrier-free access and some specially designed suites are available.

Room rates for the conference are $60 per person per night or $115 per night for a suite, which can sleep up to four people.

While staying at Western University, conference delegates will have access to an exercise room outfitted with a selection of fitness equipment in Ontario Hall, as well as discounted access to Western University's state-of-the-art Recreation Centre. Multiple scenic trails along the Thames River are also accessible from campus and are excellent for walking, jogging or bird-watching.

Several beautiful parks are located close to the conference venue. The Western campus has access to a 10 km walking, biking and running trail that extends along the banks of the Thames River, and connects campus with Gibbons Park, Harris Park and Springbank Park. The Medway Valley, adjacent to campus offers several hiking trails in a beautiful forest along Medway Creek, where participants can leave the city behind completely.

London and neighbouring Stratford, Ontario are home to world class theatre offerings. Optional excursions will be planned to the internationally renowned Stratford Festival and London's own Grand Theatre.

Fanshawe College and Western University employ creative teams of award-winning catering professionals who will provide nutritious meals and refreshment breaks on each day of the conference. The catering teams will create menus that enhance the distinctive spirit of STLHE and provide meal options to suit the varied dietary preferences and restrictions of delegates.

Participants who wish to dine out will find that London offers a wide variety culinary choices. There are a plethora of excellent restaurants in and around the downtown core. Restaurant choices include:

 By Car

Located at the convergence of highways 401, 402 & 403, London is approximately two hours driving distance from Toronto and Detroit. Free Parking will be available on campus at Ontario Hall (Lot N) for all conference participants regardless of accommodation agreement.

 By Air

London International Airport has three main airline carriers: Air Canada, Westjet and United. Air Canada has direct flights to London from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Westjet has direct flights from Winnipeg, Calgary and Orlando. United has two flights daily from Chicago.

Airline discounts of 10% have been arranged for conference registrants flying with Air Canada (but not Tango) and Westjet. In order to receive the discounts, delegates must contact FCM Travel using the email, or calling 1-855-329-3104 (Canada and US) or 1-416-813-4799. The discounts have been set up through the FCM Travel, not Air Canada and West Jet directly. When booking through FCM travel, a small service fee will be applied to your booking.

 By Rail

If rail travel is preferred, a VIA rail station is located in the downtown core. A 10% discount applies to rail travel, but the ticket must be booked through FCM Travel or by phone 1-855-329-3104 (Canada and US) or 1-416-813-4799.

 By Bus

If travelling to London by bus, the Greyhound Bus terminal is conveniently located downtown near the rail station.

Throughout the city, London Transit is convenient and provides direct transport to and from Fanshawe and Western campuses and to the downtown core. Tourism London is providing all STLHE 2016 delegates with a free transit pass for the duration of the conference so that participants can travel to and from the conference with ease and can explore the various cultural and recreational activities that the city has to offer.

The organizing committee is looking forward to welcoming you to London, Ontario, June 21 to 24, 2016. The Conference is hosted during one of the most inviting times of the year in Southwestern Ontario, with an average temperature of 24°C.
